IT technicians provide IT and network support within
companies, government offices and nonprofit organizations. They can also work
for third party IT support companies. IT technicians are responsible for
installing, maintaining and solving hardware and software problems, as well as
for answering computer questions from employees and customers. Some of their
specific responsibilities include:
Installation of new IT systems and installation, maintenance
and troubleshooting of software
Make sure your internet security software is up to date and
runs smoothly
Repair hardware and servers if necessary
Testing, troubleshooting and implementation of new software
programs within a company
Provide technical assistance and identify the necessary
solutions
Participate in onboarding for new hires and train non-IT
professionals on computers and software
