The cost of the placement system can be due to the cost of additional infrastructure, additional bandwidth, money, lifespan, weight, energy and the nature of the technology introduced. Costs may include installation and revision time during the deployment period. If the location system can reuse existing communications infrastructure, some of the infrastructure, equipment and bandwidth can be saved. Complex signal processing and algorithms used to estimate location is another issue that needs to be balanced with the performance of location systems. A compromise between complexity and accuracy affects the overall cost of the system.
